1.    Modes of transportation: Which modes of  public transportation and ease-of-use  solutions for private transportation do you  support which will encourage local residents and visitors to increase their purchases from businesses in –

I am a proponent of public transportation initiatives and have supported DASH, the Trolley, Carlyle bus service and co-chaired the City’s Transit Corridor Task Force which will bring BRT (and possibly Street Cars) to the City.  A redeveloped Landmark Mall will create a transit center in the West-End.

I support redevelopment efforts and  would encourage active engagement with WEBA to encourage business development efforts to attract new businesses.

3.    Master Plan: What timeframe do you support for the completion of a submarket Master Plan for -

I have no idea what a ‘submarket’ Master Plan is so I cannot answer this question.  But if you mean a small area plan for the West-End I think the City has taken significant steps in this area with passage of the Beauregard Small Area and the Landmark Mall Plan.

I voted for the Beauregard Small Area Plan and will encourage initiatives particularly affordable housing efforts proceed in a reasonable timeframe.

This is an important redevelopment project for the City and will support any proposal that upholds the main objectives in the Landmark Plan which was passed by City Council.

I vote to move up the Eisenhower West Plan in the Planning department work schedule.  We need a plan so developers know exactly what we want for future redevelopment in the West-End and on Eisenhower Avenue.

As co-chair of the Economic Sustainability Task Force I initiated and supported several efforts to promote a healthy, thriving business environment in Alexandria. I have supported several redevelopment and transportation projects to promote new businesses.  The AEDP Small Business Center

I do not support dedicating taxes from a specific development to certain projects.  Any project or City-wide infrastructure project or service should be properly evaluated, prioritized and considered in the annual budget process.

7.    National Science Foundation: How do you plan to encourage the NSF’s coming to Eisenhower Valley and selecting one of the three sites it is considering there?

Same answer as for Eisenhower Valley.

I have supported AEDP and the City’s efforts to attract NSF and will continue to do so. 

8.    Victory Center: What are the tangible solutions you will implement to promote Victory Center for immediate tenancy and development?

Same answer as for Eisenhower Valley.

I support the review of the Eisenhower West Area Plan.  I also support seeking a government tenant on that site.

Same answer as for Eisenhower Valley.

There is no way to honestly answer that question.  I have supported efforts by the City and AEDP to work with the landlord to find a tenant as quickly as possible.
